Coordinator of Save Our Borneo (SOB), Nordin said the mining in forest areas are potentially cutting down forests or even open new areas so that forests are increasingly reduced.
This is especially ironic because the very slow rehabilitation of existing degraded land while it has reached seven million hectares more.
Based on data from Department of Mines and Energy Central Kalimantan province, 115 mining companies (KP) proposed the use permit approval for forest areas. 53 proposals permission of whom have received recommendations from the Governor of Central Kalimantan, to be submitted to the Department of Forestry.
