VIVAnews - A frog without lungs, long-tailed snails to the world's longest insect is a new species found in the three years since the Borneo forest conservation plan was held.
The plan was jointly implemented by the government of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia to protect 220,000 square kilometers of tropical rain forests are irreplaceable.
The World Wildlife Fund report entitled "Borneo's New World" discovered a new species on Borneo which became the world's lungs. The detail found 123 new species since conservation was held from February 2007.

"In the last three years, independent scientific discoveries prove the existence of the new life being discovered in Borneo," said Adam Tomasek, head of the Heart of Borneo (HoB) from WWF told thestar.com, 23 April 2010.
For example, snails snail called long tail "ninja". These snails are found on leaves in the forest highlands, where the creature was like a long tail wrapped around its body when resting.
Conch is part of a unique family of invertebrate. He uses "arrows" while making love with your partner. Small spear will penetrate and inject hormones into pairs so that increases the chances of reproduction.

Other species are the giant insects that 57 centimeters in length. It was found in 2008 and only three specimens have been discovered. In Borneo, have long been known inhabited by giant insects, including several large cockroaches as long as 10 cm. The real explorers have visited the island of Borneo for centuries. However, a wide area makes this area of biology has not been explored.
"Overlay these irreplaceable forests can be preserved for our children," he said. The promise that it would be tempting to many discoveries that will encourage the next generation of researchers ponder. HoB is home to 10 species of primates, more than 350 birds, 150 reptiles and amphibians. Even more staggering 10 000 plants found nowhere else in the world.
Average invention since the HoB was formed more than three new species per month. These are facts sufficient to ensure that decisions to protect Borneo is the correct action. With so many new species discovered every month, the WWF has made a global priority areas.
Under the agreement, 2007, three government that controls the region of Borneo is committed to improving protection and management of cross-border region, tourism development, and support sustainable resource management.

Three of this year, said Tomasek, plan Heart of Borneo Borneo proved that the areas were indispensable for the conservation and sustainable development. How, by establishing a framework for action to protect global biodiversity of Borneo.

Forms of cooperation, the company will not kill if there are orangutans who entered the plantation area. The firm also prepared a Foster Parent for the orangutans, as well as the needs and kebaradaan orangutans in the vicinity.
In addition, Best Agro Foundation also provides training to employees related to the handling of estates orangutans. "This is one of our programs for the conservation of orangutans in Central Kalimantan. We've decided and ready to become a Foster Parent of the existence of orangutans," said Foundation Legal Director Best Agro H Muhammad Milky Darta orangutan rescue training was interrupted on Saturday (21 / 8) earlier.
In addition to concern for the existence of an increasingly endangered orangutans, Best Agro Foundation also has other programs that closely related to the environment. In the orangutan rescue training activities held by Best Agro Foundation presents Professor Birute Galdikas Presides OFI. In the material is given an understanding of the conditions and the properties of the orangutan, then about diet, as well as the types of orangutans. Equally important, participants were also taught how to respond if there are orangutans get into the plantation.
According Birute, the number of primates are predicted to increasingly scarce in Central Kalimantan. In addition to its environmental factors, rarity is also due to low reproductive capacity among females. "Orangutans are bearing children only once in eight years. And this is their habit, although they more often to mate, still not pregnant," he explained.
Also described until now there is no researcher can be sure, how to set the distance this orangutan birth of her child. "Maybe they have a concoction of herbs or hormones to delay pregnancy," he said.
Lifestyle both types of primates are also different. Monkeys generally live in groups and frequently married. While the preferred type of orangutans live alone. So do not be surprised if orangutans are rarely married and pregnant because of lack of association.
Just note the number of Bornean orangutan populations diarea currently 54,567 tails, then for the total population of 61,234 wild birds.

The origins of Dayak Tomun (In the discussion and controversy)

Displaying the only post.

from: Tingang Tomun

Culture and tradition is an absolute identity of a nation, both public and private idividu. The word 'tradition' can be described as: forwarding of information, beliefs and habits, either in words or by example from one generation to another. In other words, thoughts and values passed down from one generation to the next generation. Similarly premises traditions, culture, and the legality of a name from the Dayak tribe called Tomun. some opinions that say istlah Tomun msih ambiguous kelmpk tribe who call u d brdiam Lmndau watershed. My sodara2 keinginn bnyak wlaupn u called Tomun. jg else there, who said Balaman as mncoba mnwarkan Dayak identity in this Bakuba Bahaum earth. tp kdua ckup word is hard believers welcomed klau dpndang theoretical SCARA (identtas theory of ethnic) in the memory of this culture. Another argument says that adlah klmpok Tomun brdiam d Comm distinguished regions sebabi / new acid. Fridolin measuring Tjilik Riwut n another term u jg pnya this tribe.

Indeed, Tomun vs. Balaman 2 words the same meaning ... (together, the group) etc. according to language in the sense the same watershed Lamandau ..

Dyak Blaman exists, it hnya SJA kta Blaman dimksdkn for nam interest in watershed bermukm dyak distinguished dn Mentobi Bulik. Then as never hbgnnya with Dyk Tomun / Tomuai / Tomoun / Tomuan? The word "Tomun ... See More "has a connotation of meaning in the Indonesian language, namely: speech, deliberation, meet, the encounter to understand each other, understand, and know the true, and understand. Because the ability to understand each other and understand this, so that Tomun Dayak tribe called the largest Dayak tribe in the region Lamandau District. Jdi, Dyk Tomun real "NOT" to refer to tribal dyak dimksdkan it sbgai implementation NAME sbuah but lbih KPD meaning dn kta Tomun meaning itself. Well .. sdrhnanya: in Indonsia there are various MCM SKU sprti Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra, etc., ttpi smua disbut as org Indonesia. JG Bgtu dyak Tomun. There Blaman Dyk, Delang, Belantikan, etc., are united in 1 tp smua great interest Dyk: Dayak TOMUN.

Indeed, when viewed in the light of the meaning of the word of view. but u naming, it needs further study lbih. please read tulisan2 anthropologists about the origin of the word dayak / resource '/ dyak accepted as the first migration of ethnic identity that comes k island pndduk klimantan and concentrated in the original. jg same process of naming the tribe Dayak Ngaju DNG ...', maanyan, Iban, bentiaq, etc.. if we study the concept of identity formation that ... then there is one word that fits ... namely MAMA '.... which means the same as the word Dayak / Power '/ Dyak /, ma'anyan, Ngaju', bentiaq, Iban, land / klemantan etc. .... it's all in the beginning we reject ... we do not like being called Dayak / Power '/ Dyak at the start of construction of this term .... Dutch anthropologist who actually mempositivisasi this term so that we can accept into identity ... and now we have proudly called Dayak / Power '/ Dyak ... and for the record, we are proud betul2 called Dayak was bloody incident some time ago ... Dayak then terevitalisasi and terekontruksi. Well, Klo brdasarkn konsep2 that, indeed truthful learning prlu n continued research to determine what, who, and who bgmna SKU Dyk bahaum bakuba sbnrnya on earth of ours. Dn mgkn we prlu pkirkn brsma tuha2 kdepannya to collect the customs, mantir, and the princes ula'k pages brsma Dlm our discussion forums.

This anthropological discussion describes the need for clarity of identity. Naming usually born from the construction of dialectics in life, especially the deepest values. Mis. ISRAEL = God's people, Dayak = civilized, FINDINGS / Tomun The easy means to "relate" to one another in a single clump (Da 'Keninjal, Da' Dsa, Da 'Linoh ... See More in West Kalimantan, Da' d Findings DAS seranau, cempaga upstream, middle mentaya, Seruyan middle, and even Da 'd Saribas & Iban Sarawak, & many more). Relations here merpkn indication that we are open and egalitarian. Structurally, semantics, and syntax, word FINDINGS / Tomun / Tomu-am most close to our existence urang / Da 'Lamandau with its tributaries. Will present and future generations change its name? We Da '/ urang Lamandau must have a meaning themselves who could be donated in the association of nations. Caves in Central Kalimantan

By Star Sariyatno Tourism

Exploration surveys at this time still not much is done by experts on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo) in addition to the local Sarawak (Malaysia). Especially in areas which are very famous Mulu caves and majestic giant.

cavernicoles.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/muller1.jpg
First time in doing empirically about the caves that exist in Kalimantan conducted by the National Park Palawa UAJY Betung Karihun and Roberts (1990), a French cave adventurers who do research on the caves in Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan. His research is in the doing of good fauna it concerns life and its diversity. The cave is located in Central Kalimantan is located in the area tumbles Topus, Hulu Sungai Barito. It turns out that there are caves in the area tumbles Topus not only one but quite a lot. From the results of a survey exploring the Central Bureau of Research - Life Sciences (LIPI) was obtained there were about fourteen caves with details of nine caves mapped and the remaining five caves are not mapped. There's also a different cave locations are eleven caves in the area Panat, two caves and one cave in Samali Puruk Cahu city (county Joyless Kingdom). The length of mapped cave passage of 2952 meters, the longest cave is a cave Liang Hajud.
Cave environment has a very unique ecosystem to be observed, because the cave had not received any light in his life (dark), that's what distinguishes it from other ecosystems case of tropical rain forest ecosystems, wetland ecosystems, coastal ecosystems, the ecosystem of the river, and lake ecosystems. So, I save a lot of diversity as well as the behavior of components biotiknya (flora and fauna). Cave environment to differentiate into 3 parts, namely the light zone, transition zone, and the dark zone.
Fauna (animals) that live in the cave also must be able to adapt to lingkngan cave for the fauna to preserve the species (species). Adaptation level of the living fauna in the cave ecosystem is divided into three groups, namely troglosen, troglofil, and troglobit. Troglobit to local terrestrial and aquatic areas referred to by stigosen. These terms will then be used as a "designation" of the relevant to the cave ecosystem. Troglosen group is the group of animals that live bright areas, troglofil is a group of animals that live in transitional areas, and troglobit are animals that live in dark areas.
Fall Topus is scope Source Barito district and is the village most tip of the Barito river.
